Common questions about Final-E

Why does Final-E need "Allow all the time" location access?

Final-E offers location-based notifications: you can save a destination (like your home or workplace) and automatically get notified about available EV chargers when you arrive there. To make this work, your device needs to monitor a zone around your saved destination even when the app is closed. On Android, this requires the "Allow all the time" location permission.

Here is what we want you to know:

  • We do not continuously track your location. Your device handles the zone monitoring locally. We only receive your coordinates at the moment you enter a saved zone, so we can look up nearby charger availability.
  • We do not store your location history. We use your position once to find chargers, then discard it. There is no timeline or map of where you have been.
  • Location monitoring is only active when you have location-based subscriptions. If you have not saved any destinations, no location monitoring happens at all.
  • We never sell or share your location data. Your coordinates are used solely to find available chargers near you.

If you prefer not to grant background location access, Final-E works without it. You just will not receive automatic arrival-based notifications. All other features, including manual charger search and standard subscription notifications, work normally.

What is Final-E?

Final-E is an EV charger availability notification service. It monitors electric vehicle charging stations and sends you instant notifications when your preferred chargers become available, so you never have to wait for a charger again.

How does it work?

Simply find a charging station on the map, subscribe to it, and we'll monitor its availability for you. When a connector becomes available, you'll receive a push notification on your device. You can subscribe to as many chargers as you want.

Is Final-E free to use?

Final-E is currently free to use. We may introduce premium features in the future, but core functionality including charger monitoring and notifications will remain available.

What platforms are supported?

Final-E is available on the web, iOS, and Android. Your account and subscriptions sync across all platforms, so you can manage your chargers from any device.

How do notifications work?

We send push notifications through your device's native notification system. On iOS, we use Apple Push Notification Service (APNs). On Android, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). On web, we use browser push notifications. Make sure notifications are enabled in your device settings.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account from the profile settings within the app. When you delete your account, all your personal data, subscriptions, and notification preferences will be permanently removed within 30 days.

How is my data kept secure?

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections, secure database storage, and secure authentication through Google Sign-In. We never share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
